This is Hamlet, a thoroughbred Porcus Thamesii. He was made with wood retrieved from the banks of the Thames near Cricklade and fared better than some of his siblings. It was tricky to find a wood that both had a suitably characterful bark (unusual for pig I'll grant you) and held on to that bark as it dried (and resisted splitting). Hamlet was a survivor and had a custom crate made for him clad in paper from an 1877 edition of Pickwick Papers.
Hamlet is now enjoying life with Hazel, Pam's Mum, in Newcastle, South Africa.
