This 'button-and-string' envelope was an experiment in different ways to join pieces of coloured card to form the envelope. The castellated qualifier is based on the definition "having indentations similar to battlements", i.e. the joining edges have an interlocking square wave pattern. This makes a feature of the join rather than trying to hide it.
The colours were deliberately chosen to be somewhat discordant, but hopefully eye-catching rather than visually disturbing.
The hinge-effect of the joins is a pleasing unexpected side-effect though this is only noticeable in the join between the blue flap and the purple front (back?). The 'buttons' are double 22mm diameter discs of red card glued together (for strength) with a matching pair on the other side. The dimensions of the closed envelope are 170x110mm. The 'string' is a piece of 0.75mm nanocord.
The corner folds were tricky because two different coloured tabs want to occupy the same space.
