Both Pam and I have always been fascinated by the colourful beach huts of the British seaside and in Mevagissey our holiday cottage had a set of three mass-produced models, colour-printed on crappy wood. From a photo, I reproduced the models using acrylic paint on stained and waxed oak and gave the set to Pam for her birthday. Whether this subverts the mass-production aesthetic in an instance of post-modern semiotics or simply reproduces tat is up for grabs.
