A Reuleaux triangle is a shape formed from the intersection of three circular disks each having its center on the boundary of the other two. Its boundary is a curve of constant width the simplest and best known such curve other than the circle itself.
I created the template by drawing an equilateral then used an old-fashioned compass to construct the three arcs. My goal was to make a coiled pot that made a gradual transition from a Reuleaux triangle on the base to an equilateral triangle at the top opening.
The main body of the pot was textured with denim while the top third was highly polished. A scalpel was used to make the opening as crisp as possible.
