This experimental pot was built from slabs rolled on a surface scattered with rice (Basmati of course). The pot was then fired normally, thus burning off the embedded grains. The curious side effect of this was that what was once foreground pattern became background. The pot was then fired in sawdust in a heavy-duty Burmese terracotta barbecue which gave it its smoky patterns. It was finished off, as usual, with bees wax. The inside of the pot has retained an attractive smokey smell.
