Cage 2'03

This was one of the first cut-outs I created, the result of doodling on my iPad with a stylus. The Cage 2:03 (a cage with two birds on the top, 3 on the bottom) is also an oblique reference to Cage's 4'33". I added a bit of colour with yellow card that 'floats' between the backing paper and the second sheet of glass. A cocktail stick has been glued to the back of the card and the sharp end of the cocktail stick is pushed though the backing paper into a piece of foam board behind. The shadows cast by the cage vary according to the light source: overcast, sunny or artificial.
