This spatula was made as a companion piece to the wooden spoon (The Cooper) I made for my niece and her husband, Dom and Jay, a few years ago. It was made from the next third of the whiskey stave and again followed the curve of the stave, being designed to curve down when held in the hand. I had intended to cut the end of the handle off to a length closer to that of the spoon but rather liked the elegance of the length and left it as it was. Most of the sanding was done wet which means that fibres less likely to rise when the spatula gets wet.
